Architects and engineers are already using AI to write scopes, proposals, and contracts. But what if the same technology could help create proposals that clients actually want to read — clear, visual, and designed to build trust?
That’s what we set out to explore: how automation can help professionals save time while producing proposals that communicate value through both structure and storytelling.
We tested Canva, Gamma, and Venngage — three platforms that promise to turn text-based proposals into presentation-ready experiences.
Our first test was with Canva, using its built-in AI design assistant to generate an engineering proposal layout from scratch.
Because Canva’s AI box doesn’t accept large amounts of text, we crafted a detailed prompt to guide the system:
The result was fast and visually impressive. The proposal felt modern, clear, and presentation-ready — perfect for client-facing conversations.
The only limitation: Canva’s AI doesn’t process long or highly technical content well, so manual input is still required for detailed scopes.
Pricing: Canva Pro starts at around US$12.99/month (or US$119.99/year) for access to AI tools and brand customization.
Next, we used Gamma, a tool that transforms written content into clean, structured presentations.
We pasted a detailed (fictional) proposal and let Gamma format and organize everything automatically.
The result was a polished and consistent layout, with automatic sectioning, clear typography, and balanced spacing. Gamma isn’t as flexible in design as Canva, but its strength lies in clarity and flow — it removes inconsistencies and keeps every slide coherent.
Pricing: Free to start, with paid plans beginning around US$10/month.
Finally, we tested Venngage, known for its visual infographics and flexible editing tools.
After pasting the same type of content, Venngage generated a beautiful, well-structured proposal that found a middle ground between design and information depth.
Its layouts are slightly less refined than Canva’s and less rigid than Gamma’s — but that’s what makes it unique. Venngage gives users strong creative control while maintaining professional consistency.
Pricing: Around US$49/month for full brand personalization and advanced export options.
We also looked at Proposify, a dedicated proposal automation platform.
It doesn’t yet auto-generate proposals, but it allows you to build client-centered templates, collect digital signatures, and integrate with CRM systems — making it ideal for firms that send frequent proposals and need a trackable workflow.
Each platform fits a different purpose — depending on your priorities and workflow:
Canva — Best for teams focused on design and client experience, even if it means adding content manually.
Gamma — Ideal for technical or detailed proposals where structure, logic, and clarity matter most.
Venngage — The most balanced choice between design flexibility and information richness, though at a higher price point.
Of course, no platform replaces human refinement — every proposal still benefits from personal adjustments and professional review. In our tests, however, we made almost no edits to the first AI-generated versions, and the results were already presentation-ready. With tools like these, you can increase the chances of your client saying yes faster and with greater confidence.
